welcome to ybor city
tommySomeone told me about a video of Ybor City on YouTube. They say it was shot on a Saturday night in May 2007. The location is the north side of 7th Av. in Ybor City between 19th and 20 Streets.
It’s difficult to tell, but it appears there may be a fight going on in front of the closed Taverna Opa. Or it may just be someone entertaining the crowd. A westbound vehicle stops, and a young man dressed in bright colors gets out to watch the action as the crowd begins to quickly swell. The crowd continues to grow over the next minute or so, when suddenly yellow britches goes over for a closer look (1:20). Less than 30 seconds later, the gentleman in the yellow britches opens the trunk and pulls something out. I have no idea what it is, but you can see those nearby him are freaked, and quickly run away.
The crowd grows for another minute before police on horseback show up and attempt to scatter the crowd. That effort goes on for another few minutes, and eventually the crowd dissipates.

Yes, that happened on the corner of 20th and 7th (aka. a couple of blocks away from where I live). The crowd you see is the Fuel/Empire crowd. This is exactly why Club Fuel needs to close. The promoters of this craphole dump a drunk, criminally-minded crowd onto the street every Fri-Sat night at 3:00am . It is a sad sad state of affairs. BTW, Club Fuel is on trial for 8 counts of noise ordinance violations coming this Thu for anyone who is interested to see this dump get closed.

I’m not sure citing noise violations as a reason to close it down is going to get many supporters around here, considering that same noise ordinance affects our esteemed sysop
As for the video, I have no idea what happens when Yellow Man opens his trunk. Note that only about half the crowd disperses, and the other half moves in closer.

it was a fight…
i filmed it….
the hearing for the noise ord violations got postponed another thirty days… another lame city enforcement effort…
BTW they only have three violations on record…..another joke of a city policy….the violations should be every thur fri and sat…52 weeks a yaer!!!!!
but the city is real real good at giving parking tickets in ybor….
but seriously…..it’s the music format….
that hiphop crap attracts the garbage thugs….
dont see riots infront of castle or czar…..
just like they are trying to ban soccer matches in europe for thuggery….hiphop/rap needs to be banned from ybor……
