20, of Jacksonville, Fla.

assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed Aug. 18 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee following a mine-assessment mission in Samarra, Iraq.

Seamans joined the Army right after graduating high school last year. He knew he wanted to serve his country - like his father, a Navy veteran. “I gave to my country and at the same time so did my son,” he said. “But he gave more, and if I could trade places with him I would. No parent should have to bury their child.”

what is this?

A wife who loses a husband is called a widow. A husband who loses a wife is called a widower. A child who loses his parents is called an orphan. But…there is no word for a parent who loses a child, that’s how awful the loss is!
