Stephanie, wanted to say hi. I’m from Evansville, IN. & considering the move to tampa. husband has family in Sarasota, Fl. He’s in the union. It’s scary to think about change that big. I would like to know how things are going. My son is autistic & I need to get more info on schools and treatments. I’m a licensed Realtor her, and have my cosmotology license. Currently have a permit for cdl’s class b. soon will get l’s. I’m just a little afraid of the move. I have visit miami before but not tampa. Hows the living so far.

My boyfriend and I are moving to Tampa on January 15, 2008! We are moving from Fort Wayne, Indiana. He has a job as a Technician and I am desperately searching for a job in the apartment industry. I am currently a Property Manager here in Fort Wayne, but am willing to do something different while I am in school. If you know of any jobs, let me know!

Almost 6 years ago and 2 weeks after I graduated from RIT in Rochester,NY, I packed 2 computers, 1 19″ TV, 1 twin mattress, my clothes, and my hockey equipment and blindly drove to Tampa. I’ve used the hockey equipment twice….it was one of the best decisions I’ve made.

NYU offered 80%, UT offered 100 – wow, was Dad proud. Until, you know, I packed on a double major at $40,000 and insisted on, um, that other school.

Got a graduate assistantship at USF in 92 and moved down during an especially-lousy Michigan summer (3 months of bad sledding). Took me until Christmas to thaw out.

Born and raised on Long Island in NY, moved down here Super Bowl week 1989 (the game was in Miami). Have been a Pinellas County citizen ever since.

We’ve been here just over a year now, another set of transplanted Northeasterners from Washington, DC, and it’s been great. I’m coming to realize the vast differences between Tampa and Pinellas County (where we live), but every day we’re here the area feels more and more like home.

My wife is originally from Daytona Beach (Ormond Beach, actually), and we wanted to get out of overpriced DC and move closer to her family, and start a family of our own. We briefly considered North Carolina and Arkansas (my home state), but Florida always seemed like the natural choice. I’m glad we made it here.

I was born and raised in Valdosta, Georgia, four hours north of here (just over the FL/GA border). I wanted to live somewhere — anywhere — else, just to move out of my hometown. I researched various cities and liked what Tampa had to offer. In 1997 I saved up my money, quit my job, rented an apartment and moved down here. I didn’t know a soul and didn’t have a job lined up. It was one of the best decisions of my life!

From Jacksonville, Fl, or as anyone who is from there likes to call it – The Hellmouth.

Lived in Tampa from 92-95 while at USF, moved back in 98 to “take a year off” before starting a theater company two months later.
