fartsy artsy in tampa
There’s a new poll up on the sidebar. With all the talk of the Tampa Museum of Art, we sure don’t hear about things moving forward. In fact, the Tribune thinks it’s going nowhere. So, is it even necessary to have an art museum?

FYI: The poll in the sidebar isn’t working… only the one in this post seems to works.

The Tampa Museum is a classic case of whats wrong with this city. It is so archaic it is embarrassing. Plus the fascist security is also embarrassing, as they follow you around the museum making you feel like you have committed a crime just by visiting. Their permanent collection is lame. Visit the museums and Art Centers in Pinellas and Polk counties and you will see what is wrong with the Tampa Museum. I openly invite any Museum board member or the Mayor to go on a local museum tour with me. In an unpublished article I did for tampabaymuse.com the Tampa Museum came in woefully dead last to all the museums and art centers in Pinellas and Polk counties.

I agree. I laughed pretty hard over the whole ‘city of the arts’ thing when pam promoted it. Lame. Like every other city. It was a thinly disguised and I feel successful (not for US but for the few FEW who will benefit) effort to give the riverfront property over to a few ‘low-slung private homes’ (nearly verbatim quote from the mayor)
This guy who stalks me says that is sooo good because these folks will pay MORE TAXES. Oh, yeah. NOT. At least not anymore. They brought their friends here. They built these OBSCENE boxes lotline to lotline for houses. No taxes. All under the guise of helping the little people, most of whom they are forcing to be homeless. I think the Tampa Museum of Art and the dedicated people who have devoted free time to the success of same bring in some excellent shows and do some excellent programs. I also had an FBI guy stalk me through their art program for children. It’s funny. NOT really.
They’re just committing robbery. And, I appreciate you saying so tampabaymuse.
It’s sickening.
All that has been kicked to the side for light rail.
Maybe we can combine the two and showcase a collection of lionel trains.
