Army Maj. David G. Taylor
Editor’s note: This entry is not an official part of the Sticks of Fire Florida Soldiers roll call. David Taylor is listed in DOD records as from North Carolina. He is being included here because his wife lived in Tampa, and the story of Michelle and David Taylor in the St. Pete Times echoes what we want to tell you:

37, of North Carolina
assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany; died Oct. 22 from injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in Baghdad.
Tags: tampaTaylor was born August 11, 1969, at Fort Hood, Texas. During his father’s second tour in Vietnam, he moved with his mother to his grandparent’s farm in Apex, N.C. Although he spent most of his childhood in Heidelberg, Germany, he always considered Apex his home. Maj. Taylor began a life of service and leadership at an early age. At the age of 13, he was awarded the Eagle Scout, the highest Boy Scout award. Maj. Taylor was senior class president at Heidelberg High School, from which he graduated in 1987. He went on to Davidson College in Davidson, N.C., where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science in 1991.
