By chance through a friend on Friday afternoon, I was lured to an image hosted on ModSquadHockey that shows a modified Lightning crest/team logo. It’s much of the same yet it’s very different and follows Jay Feaster’s “modernized” foreshadowing from earlier this month
It cannot be entirely confirmed (or denied for that matter) if this is real or not so take it with a grain of salt but I’d find it easier to believe this is authentic than on other concepts that have been floating around on the Internet the last few months:

This is stirring up quite a debate between Lightning fans on SunSportsTV’s message forum where the response hasn’t been happy but it hasn’t been as negative as the reaction by hockey fans everywhere to the “radioactive slug” logo implemented by the Buffalo Sabres last year.

I can’t stand it. They need to get the words off the thing, and what’s with the square top of the bolt showing? The whole thing looks crooked or off balance, not polished or modern at all.
Back to the drawing board for another decade.

Yuk! I personally feel the more traditional/old school look is better. I do agree with less lettering. The current logo has Tampa Bay and Lightning on it…just do away with “Lightning”, keep the bolt and Tampa Bay.
