tampa turns 120

I found out more about the time capsule. From the City of Tampa website:

To celebrate the city’s 120th birthday, Mayor Pam Iorio, Tampa City Council and local community leaders will submit items for a time capsule to be opened by the city’s mayor on Tampa’s 150th birthday in 2037. The even will take place on Monday, July 16th at noon at Lykes Gaslight Square Park.

Here is your birthday card invitation and more details
They announced this on Thursday, and the party is today. If I wait until 4 days before my wife’s birthday to make plans, and get stuck with some lame “no-one-gets-a-gift” gimmick like this, there will be trouble.

Happy Birthday, Tampa.

[...] don’t know how much time these “Tampa dignitaries” had to come up with submissions, but let’s just say that it appears they had to cram for this [...]

It has taken them 120 years to age to perfection the absolute HEIGTH of indecency, thievery and chicanery.

Their glaring competency in the above is matched only by their newfound maturity in carrying it out.

    Happy Birthday, Tampa.

Your citizens have never had it worse.
