the little engine that could
The USF Football program has come a long way in just a few years, from non-existence to Big East power house. Just recently, the Big East Media contingent tabbed USF to finish fourth in the Big East, right behind Rutgers.
Which seems somewhat optimistic until you consider that college football analysis godfather Phil Steele picked USF to finish third in the Big East. For those who are unfamiliar with Steele, all he has done is publish the most accurate preseason college football magazine the last EIGHT years.
What is more impressive is that Steele has selected USF as one of his surprise teams for 2007, and even suggests the Bulls could contend for a national championship much like Rutgers did last year. USF has only two tough road tests, Auburn (rebuilding) and Rutgers (overrated), and gets West Virginia and Louisville at home. Steele claims USF has the best defense in the Big East, and thinks if quarterback Matt Grothe can stay healthy (and out of trouble with the law) the Bulls could even run the table.
For a program that didn’t even exist a dozen years ago, it is impressive what coach Jim Leavitt has done with the Bulls. Leavitt has had no where near the level of talent as West Virginia and Louisville yet USF has beaten both of these programs in the last two seasons and is poised to do so again this year. Now if the Bulls could only get some people to actually come out to their games…

We are the BULLS! We are the BULLS! We are, we are the BULLS! Why be positive about he program then slam the fans? How long did it take for the UF and FSU fans to start coming in droves to watch football games? How about looking at UF and FSU football attendance in the 12th year of both programs. I think you will find the attedance compared to USF is about the same. USF has done wonders in such a short time, why be a hater?

how much does it cost to get into a game, about $20? and don’t students get in free? usf has the 9th largest enrollment in the country.
usf fans should be ashamed if they don’t sell out, or nearly sell out, every game this season, considering how good the team is.

USF students are all local, and so far, locals are cut from the same cloth: cheer for somebody other than the home team.

Excuses aside, if the upper deck isn’t opened (needed) for the West Virginia, USF and Louisville games, then something is wrong.
