I had the honor of serving with Mike while he attended Professional Development Course at Fort Benning, Georgai in 1993. We were “running buddies” and hung out all the time whenever we were not in class. We also hung out when he and I were assigned to Ft Benning as instructors - he at the Ranger Training Bde and me at the Infantry School. I just found out about his passing TODAY and will miss him dearly.

Michael and I were Privates together in Vicenza back in 1988. We were in A Co 3-325 where I served as the platoon medic. Michael will be remembered as being a very genuine person. We will all look at Mike as having crossed over to a better place; moreover, he is closer to GOD. We should all rejoice for him. May God Bless Lucia and the boys.

I knew Mike through the first year of OIF, we shared evenings together bullshitting as soldiers do w/ time on their hands. After we re-deployed to Vicnenza I became mike’s boss as the Operations Sergeant Major of 173rd BDE; he was the S-3 Ops Sergeant of S-3, we became good friends. I went on to become the 1SG of SETAF for OEF-6, as the Herd went to Afghanistan as well. I submitted my retirement paper work from Afghanistan and was approved to retire July 2006. After the task force redeployed I was already in Germany working as a DoD civilian in my new career. Mike Curry and I stayed in touch; he had made his E-8, and told me all he wanted to do is his time and retire as I did. We continued to stay in touch as the BDE deployed once again to Afghanistan. I received a e-mail from Mike asking me for my information I went through to retire overseas and pursue a career as a retiree in Europe; with no reservations I sent mike my complete packet to review, and told him I would meet with him where ever he wanted (Italy or Germany) to talk over the packet and have a few beers….. Mike was killed 2 weeks later.

I send my utmost sincere condolences to his family, Mile was one of the mist outstanding Americans and Patriot I had ever knew, He was a father, a husband, a son to a proud mom and dad, and my brother.

It still hurts when I think about what mike wanted and now cannot pursue, Rest in peace brother.

Memorial day will always be very special for me.

Mike, I remember the day you showed up as a new soldier ready to “Be all you could be”. Everyone knew that you would excel at soldiering…your persona and attitude made you quite popular in the company. I think back on when you made your E-5 and you got to hang out with Rey, Pito, Miguel,Giorgio and myself…Visiting Italian Beaches and ski slopes were very memorable moments…how fleeting was the time brother….I’m glad I got to see you one last time in Florida. It has taught me to really enjoy the bonds of true friendship….to visit more often, to call or email more often…We all miss you bro. God Bless.
