epc meets today to decide wetlands fate

Hundreds of you are expected at the epc meeting this morning at 9am. But be patient and concise.

In this morning’s column, Dan Ruth tells you to expect that Blair will allow you only 60 seconds to speak. At the most.

Sue Carlton says the meeting today will be a circus. But I say Blair wil ensure today’s meeting resembles a wrestling bout, complete with attacks from outside the ring (Florida Tax Watch anyone?), and possibly a “folding chair over the head” incident.

On Monday, a subcommittee of the county Agriculture Economic Development Council held a meeting about those wetlands proposals. Brian Blair demanded that residents and other interested parties leave the meeting, suggesting that the public did not need to know what was going on in there - which may be a violation of Florida’s Sunshine Laws.

This guy has no interest in hearing from the public at all, and thinks he can just do whatever he pleases. He has gone from simply dumb as a rock to dangerously stupid.

    Nice job Tommy.

You hit the nail right on the head, buddy. Good for you.

How does one go about legally removing Blair before his term is over? He no longer represents the citizens of Hillsborough County; he is clearly contemptuous of them unless they are developers or campaign contributors. He needs to be unseated promptly. An investigation would be in order…but how to stop him from doing more damage in the interim?

    It’s NOT just him.
Meredith, please read my blog. Occasionally I post items of vast interest. I can’t take credit for this one: RECALL THREE OR FOUR OF THEM. Don’t give them a chance to explain or act better. Recall them. Make what they’ve done null and void.

  5. voxy Says:

These recalls go on all over the country. The one that links to is in st pete or clearwater … it’s VERY easy. Of course, buddy has to certify it so all eyes would have to be on him. not to be trusted.

  6. Lee Nelson Says:

Yes Meredith, from what I can tell a recall is the only way to remove them. From our county charter:

    Section 9.08. Recall.

The people shall have the power to recall elected officials by recall election initiated, called, held and conducted as provided by general law for chartered counties.

[...] prediction of outside attacks came true in the form of the Tallahassee based lobbying firm of Hopping Green & Sams calling [...]

  8. Meredith Says:

This is Hagan rather than Blair, but they all seem to share the same priorities: first obligation is to developers, and the public comes in distant second.
