stop prostitution with only three coins
The Three Coins restaurant in Seminole Heights recently went to a 24 hour a day format. With few other late-night options in Central Tampa, third shift cops are taking their coffee breaks at the Three Coins. Of course, the pros and johns don’t want to be seen by any cops, so they are making themselves scarce.
Which leads to an obvious question. How far away were these cops driving out of the neighborhood to take a break in the past?

I am 64 years old and I learned early on that prostitution will NEVER be stopped so why not make it legal and clean up the streets? More tax money less crime around it, less disease, is that too hard to visualize?

I must say, I tend to agree with Vic. Make it legal and it cuts back crime, drugs, and disease. It’s not going anywhere, other than down another alley.
I digress. Being a Seminole Heights resident, I ate at 3 Coins after the new management/ owner change. It was FANTASTIC! The place was very clean, the staff very friendly, the food very good and the place was packed. You would have thought Moe (the owner) and his crew had been doing this forever. You can read “Mal Carne’s” post on the Seminole Heights blog for a better description. I recommend everyone go, it’s worth the drive to the Heights. I’m going to try his lunch/ dinner menu next.

omg that restaurant’s only been there ninety nine years. LOL!!!! I’d worry more about the other clientele than the cops and hookers. Who all know each other.
You GO, vic. Give me a decent hooker any day over a bunch of nazi library head mo-fos. A good hooker could teach them a thing or two.
For the record, I’ve never even SEEN a hooker around there until the new people got here and I think they mostly imagined them ….
yall are too funny. You think ol tampa people are stoopid. mmmkay. That works for me.
A man in need and a woman with something to give, they gonna find a way to match those things up.
That restaurant is opening 24 hrs. for another cause. I think it’s great but I think the whole prostitution angle is just plain stupid.

The obvious characteristic that abortion shares with drugs and homosexuality (and prostitution) that is ignored by those who take stands for or against them is that they have always been, are now, and always will be. They are inevitable, immune to control by rhetoric or law. To take a stand for or against the inevitable is futile, like being for or against the sun coming up. - Ed Martin

I find ,it truely amasing that we can all put the prostitutes down, but when we realy look at the men and women who are offering themselves as prostitutes,I see them all as our children ,our outcast ,our school droup out’s The people we turn our backs on ,offered no jobs,no training, no second chance at life.Yet we are the first one’s in church on sunday morning Thanking GOD for our blessing, and we forgot about LOve thou brother as though self.I want to ask two questions ,(1) Some where I read judge not….. did I(2)Love is giving, are you giving….or judging. One more, questionwas was that your husban,or wife that i saw in the police line up this week end and have you had your aids test yet?

Dear George, Although I am not a church-goer type I find your words amazing. I feel exactly the same way. Tell your wife she is a very lucky woman. If you don’t have a wife and are an eligible bachelor between say 30 — 45 — you know where to find me ….
A person can never have too many friends. I’m kinda kidding about the other part but … hey, it’s out there.
We all belong to each other. I am as responsible for the wrong as I am for the right.
The cure?
Opening one’s mouth and standing up. Of course then you get the whole county down your throat. Some big thug will approach you and ask you what you are taking pictures of.
Ignore that person.
Once you begin to accept that a person can treat you as though you are not a free American ….. you are NOT A FREE AMERICAN.
I personally know and love folks from all walks of life.
There but for the grace of the Almighty …..
George, you made my whole freakin’ day !! Just one of you makes me feel better about the world.
Lots of love to you and yours !!!!

This sounds like a good first step, however at the heart of it I do not believe the “crime” of prostitution should be prosecuted.
