I had all intentions on posting last night (see Boltsmag for proof) when this happened. I didn’t get shocked by the win but enthused because I knew they could do it. Tim? If you’re reading this comment, please let us know the mood on campus. THAT has to be a story unto itself.
Anyone want to put odds on the Bulls cracking the top 25 for the first time?

The polls are out.
http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/polls
AP: Others receiving votes - South Florida (#26)…
Coaches Poll: Others receiving votes - Auburn (#26); South Florida (#27)…
CBS Sportsline Poll (yeah - it means nothing) #18 South Florida…

mildly surprised by the lack of respect from pollsters for usf, although you have to wonder how many of the pollster only saw the usf-auburn boxscore and ignored the game?
at this pace it will likely take a usf victory over louisville to get the bulls ranked.

I’ll be able to report on the on-campus attitudes once I get to work tomorrow. I actually watched the game from Gainesville, after attending the UF-Troy game. I’m astonished we didn’t break the top 25, but I have an enormously low opinion of the AP and Coaches’ polls because I think they’re unbelievably uneducated and corrupt for all they control (namely, which teams get to be national champion).

Vying for the Big East title will help… The immediate problem is who is Elon? If that had been Michigan State or some other team with a national reputation, we’d have seen the Bulls take a seat in the top 25

Great game! The next two games will be interesting. If we can go 4-0 for September, we gotta be in the top 10!

James, I gotta repeat some of Tim’s skepticism… Not because I think USF is a bad team, I do think there is a bit of a conspiracy in the ranking system. Top 10 may be a stretch. Top 20 I could believe.
But 4-0 in the big east would put the Bulls in BCS contention when those rankings came out.

The West Virginia game on Friday, Sep 28th will go a long way to cementing USF in the national polls this year.
The game could potentially be the largest crowd to ever see a USF Bulls home game. The lower bowl (which seats just over 41,000) is almost sold out.
Buy your tickets now if you haven’t yet.

This just in: USF was named Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week for taking out AU in OT. So they got that going for ‘em, which is nice.
