Ladies and gents —
Can anyone tell me if they have experienced pop up advertising while surfing Sticks lately? We believe this may be going on but we haven’t had users voice complaints about this and we’d like to remedy the situation ASAP (because who the heck likes pop up ads?).

I have. There was also a weird run of adult ads that seemed to go on for a day.

I’ve been largely enjoying Sticks from the comfort of Google Reader lately, but as I sit on the site now, so far no pop-ups. Perhaps it is installed toolbars on local PCs. Such and such website is generating pop-ups is a common support call that winds up revealing Simsbar or some such thing running on the user’s PC.

Dave (and all) — I’m pretty sure that there was problematic and pop-up orientated advertising on our AdBrite ads that we had running on the front page, under posts. We also received a complaint from various sources about this happening - some in only vague ways and others more directly.
I, myself, had been hit with a pop up for some drive cleaner software or something. There seemed to be phishing behind this or something else that was suspect at best… Oh, yeah, that and it got control of Firefox and jumped directly to their web site without me clicking on anything.
That being said, we’ve ditched Adbrite because of this.
