From Hillsborough County

“Pets In The Park” Puts Paws Downtown

* Thursday, Sept. 20, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
* Gaslight Park, Kennedy Boulevard & Madison Street, Downtown Tampa

Hillsborough County Animal Services and The Humane Society of Tampa Bay are once again teaming up to increase save-rates of homeless animals in the community.

On Thursday, Sept. 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., “Pets In The Park” will showcase adoptable pets to the midday workforce at Lykes Gaslight Park in Downtown Tampa (Kennedy Boulevard & Madison Street).

The Humane Society’s Mobile Adoption Center or “MAC” will be on site with a variety of adorable dogs,cats, puppies and kittens from both Hillsborough County Animal Services’ facility on Falkenburg Road as well as The Humane Society’s shelter on Armenia. Adoption fees include sterilization, micro-chipping, rabies vaccination, and current Hillsborough County license tag. Cash and checks will be accepted.

Hillsborough County Animal Services and The Humane Society have been adoption partners for many years, and most recently, were chosen as one of only four target regions for outreach by ASPCA® Mission: OrangeTM. Thanks in part to a new volunteer program, adoption numbers at the County’s animal shelter have already risen dramatically.

In addition to adorable adoptables, “Pets In The Park” will also feature a gift table for shelter animals. Donations of new toys, treats, towels, and blankets for homeless and injured dogs and cats may be dropped off during the event. Staff will also provide information on spay/neuter programs, hurricane preparedness for pets, responsible ownership, and volunteer opportunities.

For more information, contact Hillsborough County Animal Services at 813-744-5660.

If you want a pet, get one of these homeless ones, would ya?
