To vote or not to vote
OK, so who is gonna’ mark a ballot next week (or mail in an absentee ballott, or perhaps early vote)?
will you be voting in the January 29th primary election?
- yes (72%)
- no (16%)
- dunno (11%)
Total Votes: 79
Besides the Presidential Primary, the property tax amendment (Amendment 1) will be on the table for your consideration as well as other referendums and local items depending on where you’re voting….

I will be voting NO on one and YES for school funding in Pinellas.
Here are a few reasons why I can’t vote for this flawed tax “reform”: http://pennyforpinellas.blogspot.com/2008/01/amendment-one.html

I’m standing with you, Tom. While I’m making my presidential primary selection — I’m voting NO on Amendment 1 and YES on the school funding issue.
REFORM. Not RELIEF. And REFORM doesn’t mean “SCRAP IT” and endorse Rubio’s sales tax plan. That would be an abomination in itself (we’re in a recession, people can’t buy luxury goods and we decide to increase the sales tax? Anarchy ensues.. Yet that is a different topic and NOT on the ballot Tuesday)

I do want tax reform but I fear that if Amendment 1 passes real reform will be less likely.
After this election I ask my fellow citizens to support property tax relief for low income seniors. The state constitution was amended to allow this but most local gevernments have not followed through. Most of us don’t plan of spending our retirement years in poverty but if we end up there we will need all the help that e can get.
I also want an end to tax breaks for luxuries like stadium skyboxes and bottled water. Too many special interests can pass their taxes on to the rest of us.
