go vote, florida

Truth be told, none of the presidential candidates are overwhelming. If we have to forfeit our delegates in any given election, it may as well be this one. So, without a bunch of blah blah blah, here are my picks:

I like John McCain for the Republican primary. He’s old. Real old. Unpleasant to look at old. But he’s a hero, and the only one with the guts enough to finish the job in Iraq properly.

After much waffling, I’ve decided on Barack Obama for the Democrat primary. Hillary is simply too willing to tell you what you want to hear, and Edwards seems to be chasing butterflies. However, if you disagree here, I won’t put up much of an argument.

In the hopes that our state legislators will come back with some REAL reform, I say No on Amendment One.

But even if you disagree with these, take your part of the responsibility for choosing your leaders and tax reform, and go vote.

If Amendment One fails, it will truly be a triumph of reason over money and rhetoric. It might actually give me hope that Florida voters can, upon occasion, be reasonable.

As for me, I’m registered independent.

Tim spoke exactly what I would have said had I said it. (Independent or No Party Affiliation as my voter ID actually says)

Tommy…I can’t argue with you, I just wish Guilianni gave it a better effort, but I liked everyting else you had to say..

The latest poll I saw had Amendment 1 carrying a 57% Yes vote. I voted No last week, and I have yet to speak to anyone voting Yes, though I have seen a couple of comments on local blogs in support of it. Should it fail we must insist our elected officials address this issue with a real solution. I voted for McCain in the Primary for what it’s worth.

I’m an old fashioned girl and will be voting today, no early voting for me.
Dem: Clinton. She’s a tough cookie and that’s what we need right now. Someone who can clean this mess up.
Rep: McCain. I’ve always liked McCain. He doesn’t beat around the bush. he he
I’ve given #1 a lot of thought and have decided I will be voting No.

For the record, I voted almost two weeks ago. A registered Democrat, I left the presidential preference part of the ballot blank, still PO’d about all the crap surrounding the DNC’s decision about our delegation and the candidates’ pledge. As for Amendment 1, it was a sound NO.

As for my favourites on the presidential side:
DEMOCRAT: Obama. We need change, and he does remind one of a young JFK back in the day. Intelligent, photogenic, well spoken…

REPUBLICAN: McCain. The more moderate of their bunch, he would at least be willing to listen to other points of view. And I agree…when I watch him, I notice that his face is in serious need of skin tightening.

Tommy, none of the presidential candidates are overwhelming? This is probably the best field we’ve in over a generation. My expectations are as high as anyone’s but still I think we’re way beyond the ole ‘pick the least worst of the bunch’ here.

The only presidential candidate that makes sense is Ron Paul. We need a strong third choice to battle the Republicrats. I would love to pose this question to all of them do you favor the repeal of the 16th Amendment? Their answer will tell you all you need to know about them.

“No Party Affiliation” here, but my picks between the two parties would be:
McCain – I like his style, as well as the fact that he’s a moderate, something rarely heard of these days.
Obama – At least he has no ties to the two regimes that have been running the country for the better part of my 40 years.

And I voted no on #1. I really don’t think that there can be a more half-assed attempt at appeasing voters by doing nothing.

NO on ONE. REFORM, not RELIEF (and a weak relief that only aids some, at that).

Reps: McCain. Rudy G. would be more of the same in office, and “the same” is the last thing we need right now.
Dems: Obama. If you have not listened to this guy speak, you are missing out. And if you think he’s just proposing singing “Kumbaya” and hoping things get fixed, you’ve grown too cynical to understand America isn’t supposed to be run on a political parties whim. It’s supposed to be run for the good of the country. Hillary can’t unite. Edwards has no shot.

I voted NO on one, for Obama (after a ton of thought, woo) and I’d have likely voted for McCain if I were a R.

After a LOT of thought, I voted no on #1. To be honest, the taxes on our 11 year old house are very low and we plan on living here on our acre for a very long time.

Was registered as Independent, but recently switched to Republican.

Voted for Huckabee. Would have voted for Duncan Hunter if he were still on the list.

If I were Democrat? I’d re-register and vote republican, given the candidates they have to choose from! Hillary lost me at “takes a village” back when I was in my 20’s! And Obama who SEEMS like a nice guy is not square on all of the issues that are important to me and my family. What has really turned me off to dems also, is the backing from famous people. Oprah for Obama, Ellen for Hillary. I like Ellen and Oprah, but I really don’t want to hear their political opinions when I watch their shows.

After lots of thought I voted YES on Amendment 1. If we wait for the “perfect” answer, we will wait forever. At least if Amendment 1 passes, I can buy a bigger home and not get slammed with my taxes going up by %1000 percent, which is exactly what will happen if I sell my 14-yr-old condo now and buy a new one.

Listen, Sticks-of-fire Tommy Twit: Your comment on Mc Cain’s being old and ugly is ageist twaddle from a twerp who never spent one day in a torture prison camp. Doing so might affect your looks too. Moreover, Tommy Twerp, you yourself do not have the face that launched a thousand ships and burnt the topless towers of Ilium.

I shall turn you over to the Senior Abuse Council. Meanwhile, go stand in the corner without your supper and no blogging privileges for a month.

Anybody who reads Obama’s Dreams of My Father will vote for him. He has genius, soul, and grandeur, something in short supply these days of the likes of Bush’s being chosen for president twice by people who pick a president based on whether they would have a beer with him.
People with such pee-wee judgment deserve a president like Bush. They are not ready for democracy.
