first predictions in for super bowl 43
Village Voice Media owns Houston’s biggest alternative weekly, the Houston Press. It seems as if HP sportsblogger Jason Friedman makes his super bowl predictions over a year in advance, just prior to the game prior. Got that?
Anyway, before Super Bowl 42 in Arizona, Friedman said the Indianapolis Colts will beat the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl 43 in Tampa:
Your fearless Super Bowl XLIII final: Colts 31 – Rams 20
That’s right, Peyton will nab another ring; keeping the Brady-Manning debate at least somewhat interesting. And with his second Super Bowl title in hand, Tony Dungy can finally ride off into the sunset in peace.
He mentions Tom Brady because in the article written last Friday, he figured the Patriots winning Super Bowl 42 was a foregone conclusion. You see, he picked the Patriots back in January of 2007, so not only was he wrong this past Friday, but he was also wrong about it a year ago.
Not to be outdone, Tampa Trib sports guy Ira Kaufmann made his predictions last Friday too - Seattle Seahawks over the Jacksonville Jaguars:
With lame-duck coach Mike Holmgren on his final victory lap, Seattle ends Philadelphia’s postseason run to guarantee a Super Bowl spot. The Jaguars shut down LaDainian Tomlinson in the AFC title game and hop a short flight to Tampa while the Seahawks cross three time zones.
On the evening of Feb. 1, 2009, Holmgren goes out a winner as Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is named Super Bowl MVP. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell hands the Vince Lombardi Trophy to Holmgren and Seahawks owner Paul Allen, who both agree the trophy still smells fishy.
We’ll make our first prediction too. Both Friedman and Kauffman will get it wrong. Check back in 51 weeks.

This isn’t a bad super bowl prediction. As A Colts fan, I’m glad someone finally agrees with me that the Rams could be a dark horse next season and make the Playoffs. Now commenting on what the anyonomous Pats fan has said.
Face the facts, your Patriots lost the super bowl their 18* and DONE without CHEATING, because they lost too many key guys on defense last season and next year their O-line is going to suck, because Bill Belichick is seems to want to make necessary changes to it. There is no next year for the 18* and DONE without CHEATING Patriots just like there was no next year for the Bears last season and all the other previous Super Bowl losers. And there isn’t going to be a next year for the 18* and DONE without CHEATING Pats for a long time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for the Colts, well as of now there’s always next season. But if I were to pick a team to win the Super Bowl it would have to be the Packers assuming Farve starts next season then if not the Chargers who are a bunch of steroid addicts just like Tom Brady and the rest of the Pats.

To anonymnous, the Saints aren’t a bad choice for a super bowl contender. The additions of Sedrick Ellis, Johnathan Vilma, Bobby McRay, Randel Gay, Tracy Porter and that Big Tackle out of NC State, should make their D so much better then the Patriots.
To R1 Ryder, your prediction for the super bowl isn’t bad. But I highly doubt the Chargers will be playing the 18* and DONE without CHEATING Patriots in the AFC championship game. I guarantee you next season the Pats will not be getting past the second round of the playoffs. And I don’t like the idea of Dallas and Philly squaring off in the NFC championship game since they are both in the same devision. But I do think both Dallas and Philly will be in the playoffs next season.
To the Blackhole Raider, although I think the Raiders will be a much improved team next season, I highly doubt they will be in the playoffs. But I could see them maybe beating the New England Patriots. And I could even easilerly see them being a 500 team next season.
To Chris, the Jags aren’t a bad prediction to win the super bowl. Right after the Pats had their Giant super bowl loss, NFL analyst Marshal Faulk predicted super bowl 43 to be between the Rams and Jags. But I disagree with you on Seattle, I think they have been lucky to be in an easy devision the past couple of years. Next year I look for that to change. And I look for Seattle to finish 3rd in their devision and not make the playoffs even though I have nothing against Seattle in general.
And on my final note, by far the best post goes to the ananymonous Colts fan, I’m gonna enjoy reading that one for a long time.

To Mike Jones, Dallas isn’t going to play New England next year. Because they are 18* and DONE without CHEATING and there isn’t going to be a next season for them cause of their aging D and streaky O-line & Running game.
A better prediction for Dallas in the super bowl would be someone like the Chargers, Colts, Jags, or Browns. And I could see Dallas beating all those teams except for Indy since their looking for payback from 2 season’s ago. However Dallas SD in the SB (hate to see that, next worst thing to a Dallas vs. NE super bowl can’t get any worst then that), I would have be for Dallas since I hate the Chargers cause they are steroid addicts who always beat the Colts. But then again I hate the Pats more then any team on this planet, but then again who doesn’t.

Panthers Over Chargers
July 24th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
That’s not gonna happen. Honestly as a Cotls fan, I have nothing against the Panthers. But I just don’t think Carolina looks that strong for the next season. And I highly doubt they make the playoffs. But if they do make the playoffs then good for them they deserve it a hell of allot more then the 18* and DONE without CHEATING Patriots and their fat bastard sack of shit cheater coach and steroid addict QB and a few other teams. And I guess I’ll be happy for Carolina if they make the playoffs, I know it would be nice to see the San Diego Chargers or as I like to call them Steroid addicts like the 18* and DONE without CHEATING Patriots get taken out of the playoffs or choke in the the big one like the Pats did last season.
August 18th, 2008 at 1:51 am
yo patriots are going to go 15-1 or 16-0 nd winning the superbowl vs the cowboys and they win bc patriots have more weapons and better qb they have wes welker randy moss laurence maureney nd some other ok players cowboys have romo who will choke and terrel owens nd there is not even 1 guy that can carry a team to a super bowl
August 18th, 2008 at 7:42 pm
I think the chargers win the big one this year because of the depth on the team. They are full of all stars… Ladanian Tomlinson, Antonio Gates, Shawne Merriman, Phillip Rivers, Antonio Cromartie, Quenitn Jammer, Nick Hardwick, Shaun Phillips, Luis Castillo and Nate Keiding. common sense that adds up to a super bowl ring. More than halfe of their starters are pro bowlers!!! BTW wats up with people predicting the raiders thats pathetic.
