sweetbay shoppers be alert
If you paid with plastic at a Sweetbay Supermarket between Dec. 7 and March 10 - even once for a pack of gum - you are going to want to double-check your card or bank statements. Contact the card issuer if you see something goofy.

I sit beside a co-worker who is working through some fraudulent charges on his credit report…sounds like a major PITA for him, not to mention the feeling of being “violated” in that way.
Anybody out there using LifeLock or any of the other credit protection services available for a monthly fee?

Keep in mind as a Visa/MC cardholder you have zero liability for fraudulent charges on your account. Be sure to review your statements. Fraud is being seen popping up in Boston, Houston, France and Brazil so far. The card numbers are put up for sale on the black market and counterfeit cards made with your card data embedded on the stripe on the back of the card. As a consumer you are protected. Its the card issuers that have to pay….

If I remember correctly. Each card charges 50 dollars. That is alot to pay for your groceries.

$50 is the maximum cardholder liability if an issuer determines the cardholder was negligent in the use of their card. In this case, $0 liability would apply since the breach occurred without your knowledge or control. Feel at ease knowing you can dispute any fraudulent charges and have the balance restored to what it was before the fraud…

But what about the groceries youdid not get to eat. And what does this do to your credit. The only way to rectify the situation,is to have a mass lawsuit.

This is far from over. My credit card was one of the breaches and yesterday I apparently popped up in Tennessee on a shopping spree!!!!
WATCHING is just not good enough. Cancel all your credit cards that you may have used as Sweetbay.
It is a shame. I apparently now live and shop in Tennessee… when asked for a zip code on one purchase, my investigator from the credit card company said the thieves they had changed it and was able to continue with the several hundred dollar purchase. I am wondering what they now use for identification as places like Walmart where this popped up, asked for photo ID… I hope I am young and cute!!!!
SHAME ON SWEETBAY for allowing this to continue for weeks after they were informed of the situation. Shame on me for letting my guard down this late in the game!
