The one who got beat up sounds like a jerk; fights with her mother ended up with her on probation, and she allegedly talks bad about her peers. She’s so uncontrollable that her parents give up raising her, and allow her to move out at the age of sixteen. After the incident, she allegedly taunts the six girls on myspace again.
Meanwhile, instead of confronting the girl with her online insults, the six girls chose to terrorize her, and beat the hell out of her. Their lack of remorse indicates they feel justified, and quotes from their guardians suggest they may feel the same way.
What kind of parents allow this to happen? The grownups on either side seem to have little control of their children, and even less of an idea of what goes on in their lives. Not one of these children thought that six beating on one might not be a good idea.
And now the parents (and the sheriff) want to blame myspace and YouTube ("MySpace is the anti-Christ for children")? Of course, they are the ones with lots and lots of money ("they’re gonna pay").
There’s no question that raising a child to be a productive member of society is a difficult job. And it’s made more difficult since you may not see the payoff at age 7, 14, or even 21.
But I also have no doubt that it is one the most important jobs you will ever have.

While I think the parents need to take a lot of credit for this mess, I wouldn’t call the Mulberry Eight “children.”

While sites such as YouTube and MySpace are not to blame for the girl getting the crap beaten out of her, they do have a responsibility to monitor and remove content such as video of violent or illegal behaviour.
BTW: I mentioned on my blog Thursday that someone tried to post on YouTube the addresses and phone numbers of those involved in this incident. A co-worker with the same last name and first initial as one of the defendants is still getting harrassing calls as a result, and Verizon is having to change his number free of charge.

I have never seen a larger group of ignorant rednecks than the entire group involved in this, from the parents on both sides to the kids involved. Frankly, I’d like to see all of them jailed for life just to ensure their genetic lines are cut off permanently.

I blame the parents almost completely. The way I was raised, I would never taunt people, digital or real life. I would never participate in a group beating. I can’t imagine how uninvolved the parents must have been for years.

I understand this girl had some problems. But, and this is a really big but, not only is a six on one attack really bad, but she is blatantly stating she wants to leave, she states it’s not fair that the main attacker, Hardcastle is hitting and she’s not, and the most disturbing info that we can partially get from just watching the video is that earlier she had been knocked out. The victum states she found herself on the couch. That is where the clip clearly begins. The victum, Lindsey, isn’t even given a chance to get to her feet first before the attacks resume. Not even most males, even criminals fight this way. Later it’s reported they drove around threatening her and dumping herwhere to die. These are clearly not the actions of good, religious girls. Good, religious girls build houses, and help the needy on their spring break, not plan to snuff a young lady out!

I sure hope these f%$ked up terrorists girls and there helpers who gang attacked this 1 girl, get a dose in prison 10 fold. You LOSERS should all get beaten everday for the brutality you put this INNOCENT, 1 lone girl through. This will be permenantly etched in this girls brain for an extremely long, long time. I sure hope she didn’t suffer permenant damage. All of you are a disgrace to human society!!!!! You won’t be giggling in prison LOSERS!!!!

the 6 attackers should have been taught the ’sticks and stones’ rhyme. There is no justification for their attacking and there really is a victim here. I don’t mind my tax dollars being used to incarcerate the 6 of them for the rest of their lives — it will keep them from reproducing. Furthermore I hope the victim sues the crap out of each one of their families.
