they don’t teach this in school

Here’s a nicely written story about the stress and strain put on you when caring for your aging parents.

It seems that nothing could prepare you for this. A strong family, and perhaps a strong faith might help get you through it, but the writer sure sounds weary.

School,no matter what grade, taking care of the elderly should be not taught, but awreness of should. So many children volunteer to sing and play with the elderly,or even be pen pals,it brings such smiles to the elderly. Fourth grade is a wonderful age for children to learn age awerness and most importantly compassion. I HEARD ONE DAUGHTER SAY IT IS SO HARD TO BECOME THE PARENT AND YOUR MOTHER THE CHILD.

Junior, good on you! Volunteers are a special breed of wonderful people. I hope they get as much from you as you get from them.
