You know the JGLB is performing at the Danny Roberts benefit (for the love of Dan-Bob!) this Sunday. You may also have heard that his former bandmate, Tom Petty (along with the Heartbreakers), will be playing at the St. Pete Times Forum just three days later.

So, this guy emails me, and says he’ll give me a pair of tickets to the Tom Petty concert as long as I mention that you can buy tickets for the show for as low as $29.50 at Ticketmaster.

Yeah, right. I told him to go ahead and send the tickets, and I would get back to him.

The tickets came yesterday.

So, I have a pair of tickets to the Tom Petty concert to give to a lucky reader of Sticks of Fire. Any ideas on how to pick a winner?

The show is scheduled for this upcoming Wednesday, July 16, so leave your ideas in the comments - we’ll have to pick a winner fairly quickly.

And don’t forget, you can still find seats to the Tom Petty concert for only $29.50each!

I’m a winner. You could give them to me.

Give them to a veteran home from the war.

I think you should randomly pick a winner with a name that sounds like “Misty.” Actually, I agree with George. You should give them to a veteran home from the war.

I know trivia questions are easy now, in the age of Google, but that would be at least as fair as being the 7th caller to a radio show, and fun for Petty fans. Speaking of Petty fans, my husband is one, so I’ll try to get a trivia question from him to send you. Maybe others with a good suggestion for a Petty trivia question could send it to you via this site’s “Contact Sticks” form?

run a raffle at the door of the benefit to raise extra money.

Okay, maybe that’s better than the first commenter’s idea.

ok, I’ll take a stab “Into the Great Wide Open” question you pose as to how to determine a winner. You could just pick “A Face in the Crowd” but “I’ll Feel a Whole Lot Better” if you “Don’t Do Me Like That” as I know I’m not a pretty face (unlike “An American Girl”). I’m “Alright For Now” but before I “Breakdown” from all this “Waiting” and realize that without it I won’t have a “Big Weekend” I should keep “Running Down a Dream” by saying you should award it to anyone named Lee who proves they are a Petty fan. I mean, “I Won’t Back Down” if “Yer So Bad” and chose “Jack” but “Depending on You”, I’ll either be seeing Petty or have “Only a Broken Heart”. “I Need to Know”, please tell me “You Got Lucky”, “You Don’t Know how it Feels” (it will be “Hard on Me” ) to be one of the last Petty fans without a ticket in “This Old Town”.
