For the past month, Brett Favre wouldn’t get off of my computer, television set, radio, or out of my newspaper.

Yesterday, Trib sportswriter Ira Kaufman was convinced - certain - that Favre was going to end up with the Buccaneers, and so then Kaufman ended up all over my radio and TV.

Of course, we wake up this morning and find out that Favre is going to the Big Apple.

Thus ends this media circus.

I hope.

Update 4pm: Wayne Garcia hints around about TBO’s “sloppy and hyped journalism” in the matter.

This whole “saga” just proves how worthless our newspapers are. And they wonder why no one buys that trash anymore?

This entire circus has been a joke to me. It’s why I have worried each past draft and each past offseason under Jon Gruden: He makes the QB position the end-all, be-all of the team. That plays well with a group of fans but I still hold to the philosophy that defense wins championships. You may need a competent guy running the offense, but you also don’t need to distract your players with a sideshow of bringing in as may contestants as possible for the position.

Have to agree with Steve with respect to the Tampa Tribune. For God’s sake! Half the front page devoted to a non-event! If the the Tribune got their collective noses out of the jockstrap they would find lots of stuff going on in the Tampa Bay area that has nothing to do with sports and everything to do with things that really matter to citizens. Sheesh!
