In and out in Oldsmar. That was fast. It helps to be at the polling place around 7am.

Everywhere else looks like there are really really long lines. A co-worker told me he waited an hour early this morning in New Tampa.

Now it is time to decide what to drink while watching the counties report in. I’m thinking it is a scotch night.

I was suprised to see the County Mayor question on my ballot. I’ve been tuning out most of the news for the past few weeks but I could have sworn that a court injunction was supposed to keep that question off.

Palm Harbor, Florida — in and out at 11:15 AM (approx). No lines. No wait. Plenty of parking. Usually a heavy turnout at this location (in 2004 I had a good wait) and I am hearing about long lines elsewhere on both sides of the bay.

But no wait in my experience.

Reports of polling site in Lithia is a 20 minute git ‘n’ go.

@Scott – the County Mayor question is only for VETO powers over the BOCC. If the County Mayor issue never passes, this vote is/was unnecessary. Basically, this vote was the cart, and we still must decide if we want a horse.

a story ran in TBO earlier (it’s been corrected at the place it happened) that an Oldsmar woman was told she had already voted.

I read on TBO.com there were 2 pages of ballots front and back. I only received 1 page at my polling location. A friend confirmed she was given 2 pages at her polling location in Brandon. Did I get shorted? I know I didn’t have the County Mayor Amendment on my ballot. Anybody know anything about this?
Another question … at my polling location on Columbus Ave in Tampa someone in a Buddy Johnson tee shirt was handing out campaign flyers to people in line waiting to vote. Isn’t that forbidden? Doesn’t all campaign “propaganda” have to be a certain distance from the polls?

I was given only one page on my ballot as well — with selections on both sides.

At 10am at precinct 215/217 I walked right in and right out. And I got both pages of the ballot …

Pam: You got shorted, alright. See this article for details. You can go back to your precinct and fill out a whole ballot. The page you weren’t given also included the county referendum to continue ELAPP — our Environmental Lands Acquisition and Protection Program. I’ve been out waving my ELAPP sign at a few polls this morning, so I hope you go back and vote yes on that! (Read why.)

Thanks Mariella. As I was reading your reply, a neighbor I had seen our poll this morning called to let me know there was a second page we didn’t get.
She said John Dingfelder had been at the poll since 7:15 am (when I was voting, I didn’t see him) and was there when this went down. He called my neighbor and told her to go back and complete the second page of the ballot.

Neighbor just called back with an update. She at our precinct now. The woman that was in charge of Precinct 305 has been dismissed and there is a new supervisor there who looks VERY tired, was VERY nice and gave my neighbor the second page. There is not a line there right now so she walked right up and got it. I’m heading out the door now, hope I’m as lucky!!!! City Councilman Dingfelder said he would be at our Precinct 305 around 7:00pm tonite to make sure our votes were counted without a problem. We are ELAPP fans and now I get to vote to continue it. Good Luck!!

In Brandon at 4:45pm, no lines at Limona Village Church. I was given both pages and had no flyers handed out! All went well. Pam, I hope you get it resolved, your votes should count!

ELAPP was one of the most significant local aspects of this election.

Worked a precinct in Gulfport this morning. Had about a 45 minutes wait in the morning and no wait throughout the day- just steady traffic. No major glitches, fairly smooth day. (had over 50% of the registered voters in that precinct vote on Tuesday (not counting mail-in/early votes).

Being a poll worker is fun, albeit a long day.

    Update:
I went back to my Precinct and was able to vote the second page as a provisional ballot. No line.
    No problem.

I was a Poll watcher Precinct 305 beginning at 7:15 AM yesterday. When I got thyere I immediately noticed that they were only giving out page 1 of the two page ballot.I told the clerk and she told me to get was rude and indignant. Finally she agreed to call downtown…and then, of course they found the box with all of the page twos. We calculated that about 100 folks had not cast a vote on the second page isues. A few folks came back and cast a second page vote as a provisional vote. Thank goodness that the ELAPP passed and this did not turn out to be a more serious issue. At seven PM I double checked to make sure that this snafoo had not impacted the presidential race at our precinct…and it had not.
