Tampa is… what exactly? That’s something that is often on the minds of those trying to advertise the area — is there one signature thing that describes Tampa and the surrounding area?
Of course, when coming up with the logo for this very site, the fact Tampa is so many things played into design: icons representing several different aspects of the town and the area – both interesting and infamous.
So Tampa is… what exactly?

I should have added the fact Tampa is (sign, sealed and delivered) the 2012 Frozen Four… But I doubt that characterizes town, huh?

To me, Tampa is a collection of eclectic wanderers. I know very few native Tampans, let alone native Floridians. It seems most everyone ends up here for some combination of job opportunities, weather and activities. I think that’s the reasons I moved, and am glad I did.

Tampa is crooked politicians, ridiculous Taxes, insane insurance, poor traffic patterns, homeless walking around on MacDill by the numbers, and a Mayor who is coo coo on her Riverwalk……so what else is new?

ridiculous taxes? homeless people? come on.
I’m guessing that you have never ventured outside of this state. I moved here because of the lower taxes, and am saving tens of thousands of dollars per year.
Perhaps I can take some of those savings and buy you a bus ticket…

Have to agree with Tino. Homeless and taxes are definitely worse elsewhere.

Paricia June – Have you ever been to Detroit? New York? L.A.? Chicago? Much bigger problems with both homeless and taxes in these areas. I will give you the insurance cost though. Both my car and renters insurance are higher here than they’ve ever been anywhere else.

Why is “Beaches” an option? There are beautiful beaches in Pinellas and Pasco, yes, but I can’t think of many beaches in Tampa itself.

Because some people associated Tampa with the Beach. It wouldn’t get votes if it wasn’t the case, Tina.
