Ever hear of the Tampa Bay Water Ski Show Team?  Me either.  But apparently, our hometown water skiers are pretty good.  In fact, they are famous all over the world:

[As of July, 2008,] The team has won six consecutive Southern Region titles and is the No. 1-ranked team in the Southeast region. In 2000, Tampa finished runner-up at the National Show Ski Championships. It also holds the world record for a seven-man front flip and is at the top of the list for sports entertainment, being hired to perform in Spain, London and China as well as across the United States. They even performed at the Daytona 500…

They were also flown to New Orleans last year to show off their skills in a movie, Spring Break ‘83 (which may or may not ever see the light of day).

The Tampa Bay Water Ski Show Team shows off their talents for FREE at Tower Lake in Oldsmar every Saturday, and the first show of the season is next weekend, March 28 at 6pm.  You ought to go check it out.

By the way, Tampa Bay is also home to the American Water Ski Educational Foundation’s Water Ski Hall of Fame and Museum.  You can learn about more than 50 Hall of Fame skiers when you visit the Water Ski Hall of Fame and Museum.  It’s just off Interstate 4 in Polk City on Holy Cow Road.
