cops take closer look at hit and run

After Tampa Police initially gave up on trying to find the driver of a car involved in a hit and run in Hyde Park, they have now decided that perhaps they might could work a little harder, and maybe come up with proof of who was driving:

“When this case was reviewed by the supervisors it became apparent that there was more work to be done on the case, that it was closed prematurely, (and) that it had not been reviewed by the State Attorney’s Office, so the team of detectives are now doing the work that wasn’t done the first time around,” Police Department spokeswoman Laura McElroy said Friday.

Ah, yes, the supervisors reviewed the case, and found it was incomplete.  I’m sure that it had nothing to do with the fact that journalists Elisabeth Parker and Colleen Jenkins exposed the story for all to see, and the outrage that followed.

Lets see if the other witness recants. His statement that the car was a different color driven by a hispanic guy is a tough obstacle. Without that and without a statement from the girl it seems like a long shot conviction.

Completely not because of the article! Thanks for highlighting this, Tommy
