tampa heights one of nation’s ‘most dangerous neighborhoods’

Called by Neighborhood Scout as Amelia Ave. @ Tampa St., the study says that area of Tampa Heights has a violent crime rate of 116.99 per thousand:

Neighborhood: Amelia Ave./Tampa St.
Found Within ZIP Code(s): 33602
Predicted Annual Violent Crimes: 179
Violent Crime Rate (per 1,000): 116.99
Chances of Becoming a Victim Here (in one year): 1 in 9

That makes Tampa Heights the 17th most dangerous neighborhood in the country.

Using FBI data from 17,000 different agencies Dr. Andrew Schiller and his team looked at key indicators as identified within the FBI Uniform Crime Reports. Incidents and rates per 1,000 people in a neighborhood population for specific violent crimes were then calculated.

The violent crimes considered by Dr. Schiller as key indicators of a “dangerous neighborhood” are:

• Murder
• Non-negligent manslaughter
• Forcible rape
• Armed robbery
• Aggravated assault

Other crimes like date rape, domestic assault and child abuse (not classified as aggravated), and petty theft were excluded from the data. Property crimes, however, were incorporated in to the rating given to the various neighborhoods identified in the study.

By the way, they also say that Tampa is the 37th most dangerous city (population 25K +) in the U. S. .

Stay safe!

SO many firemen live in that hood is the problem. AND cops. Plus their ganger friends whom pam iorio and david gee et. al invited here from ny chicago, ny nj pa oh etc… CT. Three murders and a shooting in front of two homes owned by Tampa paramedics.. took them fifteen minutes to get on scene from eight feet away AND … no one saw a darn thang.

I’ve looked and maybe I just missed it BUT since you guys pretty much kicked lil Jordan Valdez a new ass for an accident (AND heinous leaving the scene, yes) WHERE is the coverage for CHERRYL DAVIS, WIFE OF COVERING PARAMEDIC (HOW COULD HE MOSS IT???) Chad CHarles Davis PURPOSELY POUNDING HER TODDLER SO HARD that the kid was covered in bruises and butterfly ring shaped abrasions, black eyes and a mouth so swollen that she cuoldnt close it???
If I missed it, my apologies I did look.
Seems odd you’d skip that over unless it hit too close to home.
Luckily not every felt that way …. But, see now there’s someone needs a new ass kicked for them.

Cherryl (please not useless second R, that’s common for thie special elite group of freaks wife of tampa fire paramedic BEATS UP HER TODDLER
Huh. How did a PARAMEDIC MISS THAT? There was a host of older injuries too. His parents had to have him threatened with arrest before she was charged a MONTH later or more.
Anyway … Jordan’s a KID. THIS is a GROWN WOMAN WIFE OF A PARAMEDIC BEATING UP A KID.
Is it little wonder that the areas surrounding their stations and where they live are DANGEROUS FOR OTHERS??
    They are out of control.

Seriously Voxy? If you want people to get whatever kind of point you’re trying to make, learn to write correctly. It’s called punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, and proper use of capital letters. After you’ve done that, actually think through what you want to convey from start to finish. Go learn all of that and then come back and try again.

I don’t believe this. Amelia Ave? Really? More than some of those East Tampa neighborhoods? Or even 7th Ave if taken as a street?

One thing that was over looked, on the list of most dangerous cities, “University, fl” was 4th, thats the Area of 22nd and Fletcher in Tampa, apparently its considered its own city.
