You might remember that Daniel Ruth was dismissed from the Tribune last November, only to hook up with the St. Pete Times before the year ended.
Problem is that the talented writer used to submit four columns a week for the Tampa paper (plus a radio show), and now shows up only on Fridays for the St. Pete rag. Therefore, Ruth has got a bunch of extra name-calling and arcane references stuck in his head with nowhere to put them.
Until now.
Take a look at Daniel Ruth’s new blog. He says he’ll be addressing all sorts of current events, “from politics, to popular culture to who knows what?”
It just began last week, so there’s not much up there other than a couple of digs on national politics, and the Florida race for Senator. The most interesting (to me) item thus far, is the “about” page, where he talks about his career in the newspaper business, including the day he “got shot in the head” back in November.
Sure, with all the interesting things he has called those he lambastes, the name “Ruthington Post” is neither witty nor original. But then again, he’s never had to come up with titles before. Or headlines, for that matter. But none of that matters once you get the the meat of his columns. You can’t always agree with Ruth, but he certainly helps make many of our local issues quite entertaining.

So you think maybe he should just blog about what he reads in the paper, giving a short summary of what some one sel wroght with a link and call himself a blogger?
