Those of us who spend any time in downtown Tampa see the marks left by the rowing crews who practice at UT. Visiting college crews have been leaving colorful reminders of their visits on the seawalls of the lower Hillsborough River for decades, and are generally ignored by the city.
Lee Hoffman is the Development Manager for The Tampa RiverWalk.
He is not sure if the city should continue to simply look the other way, and wonders if the area to be painted should be limited. Of course, that means the city would have to officially acknowledge the practice, which may open a can of worms.
So what do you think about the so-called “crew art” downtown? Take the poll, and if you want to say more, add your comment below.

It’s one of the few cool and socially acceptable graffiti displays in town, and it gives Tampa a certain academic air. I think they should allow it as is.

This is one of my favorite things to show people after walking out of the PAC after a Jobsite show. I cannot believe anyone would consider getting rid of them/it.

So long as homages to Norman Rockwell don’t start showing up, I say let it be.

One more attempt to sanitize the city of anything culturally redeeming. This is not Disney World. Leave it be.
