Sticks reader (and Tampa Bay Blogger) Patricia W (Readin’ ‘n’ Writin’ with Patricia) tells
us that Hillsborough County’s Winter basketball league is in danger of being canceled this year.
Flyers were distributed throughout the county school system, but the registration date was missing, and so sign-ups have been very slow thus far. So slow, in fact, that the program will be canceled unless more of you register immediately.
Update at Nov. 18, 2009 3pm: After this article posted, the county extended the deadline to December 2. Registration places remain the same.
The Winter Hoops league is a program of Hillsborough County Parks & Rec Department. You can get all the information by downloading the pdf flyer, but here is the ‘quick ‘n’ dirty:
Ages 7-15 years old, boys and girls
Season: January 2, 2010 – March 6, 2010
North County games are at Lake Magdalene Gym, and Central County games are at All People’s Life Center on E. Sligh Av.Game days are Saturdays only; 2-3 weekly practices maximum
$50 per player includes numbered reversible jersey, mouthpiece, and medal
Registration: November 16-18, 2009 at Northdale Recreation Center (813-269-1366), Nuccio Recreation Center (813-744-5517), Westchase Recreation Center (813-964-2948), or Winston Recreation Center (813-744-5539). Checks or MO only, made payable to B.O.C.C.
In past years, there’s always been a flood of late registrants, but this year–due to budget cuts–if there are not enough ON TIME registrations, the program will be canceled.
For more information, parents may contact Aileen Henderson – 813-744-5595 ext. 223 or hendersonav@hillsboroughcounty.org
If your children want to play in the Hillsborough County Winter Hoops basketball league, you must register today or tomorrow.
