What’s New at Music Tampa Bay, Week of Nov 16-22
Music Tampa Bay continues to find exceptional music by local talent to add to the playlist all the time. This week, four songs by four different Tampa Bay area artists are being heard for the first time in the music stream.
First is a long time bay area favorite, Cope, a Tampa band that has been recently nominated for Album of the Year at HomeGrownMusic.net. Voting continues at that website now through mid-December, so go vote for your favorite. This week, their song Goin’ Home is being heard for the first time.
Next is another Tampa band and Big Bay favorite, Have Gun Will Travel, with a track from their new
album, Postcards from the Friendly City, called Sons and Daughters of the Gilded Age. The CD was just introduced at a release event over this past weekend at New World Brewery in Ybor City.
Also new this week is a National Songwriters Association International artist whose work is being heard for the first time in the playlist, Jack Speer. He says he is “ecstatic to be on (the MTB) chart” with his song, What I Know Now.
And finally, a true local legend, Sarasota Slim is back with another classic from his extensive collection, The Last Beach Bar.
The new MTB Top 10 voting feature is getting a lot of attention lately, with a very close race for the #1 song this week. When the final count was added up, Tampa band Mogul Street Reserve came on top again for the 2nd week, followed very closely behind by St Pete’s Wendy Rich and Tampa’s Leigh Humes.
And, a new CD by a new group based in Indian Rocks Beach called CrossBridge is in the Feature Artist spotlight this week. One track from their first collaborative effort titled Rumor Has It will be heard every hour, all week long.
