Last year, we had the Tampa Bay Night Before Christmas. With apologies to Mel Tormé and Bob Wells, this year we present the Tampa Bay Christmas Song:
Peanuts roasting in a roadside van,
dark shades sitting on your nose,
kids from up north being swung by a tire,
and their moms down here in summer clothes…Everybody knows the season, cause traffic’s bad,
and the Bucs still only have one win.
Trailer park kids on the porch with string lights,
asking how Santa gets in…They know that Santa will arrive,
if he can just get down I-275.
And every mother’s child stays awake,
concerned that Santa will come upon a snake. And so I’m offering this simple phrase,
to your neighbors – all over ninety-two,
Although its been said many times, many ways,
Merry Tampa Christmas to you.
Happy Christmas to all of you!
