From our friends at Tampa Bay & Company:
The New Year brings a lot of changes, but one thing that remains constant is that visitors love to come to Tampa Bay. There’s quite a diverse
group of meetings and conventions coming to Tampa Bay to kick off the New Year, and we want to help make it memorable for them.
The National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association will crown a national champion this weekend with the 2010 NCCS National Flag Football Championships. There are nearly 400 competitors, coaches and fans from all over the country in town for this event, so if you see them, don’t tug on their flags – they are saving it for competition.
You’ll also see a group in the downtown Tampa area that is marching to the beat of its own drum. The Florida Music Educators Association will be in town for its Annual Convention. In case you haven’t noticed this group in the past, this January marks the 25th consecutive year that the Florida Music Educators Association has held its Annual Convention in Tampa Bay!! Now that’s a great tune!
You can also give a warm welcome to the delegates who will be attending the Public Housing Authorities Directors Association’s Annual Commissioners Conference… Yeah, it’s a mouthful! But a roomful, too. There will be 700 people attending this meeting, producing a couple of thousand room nights in Tampa, which is good news for all of us.
No matter what the group, where they are from, or what they are here for, they have chosen Tampa as home for their gathering, so be sure to welcome them – say hi, offer directions, or just give ‘em a big smile when you see them on the road.

I am glad the Public Housing Authority Director’s Assoc chose Tampa. Great choice. Wish it would get a little warmer though!
