Would you like to become more involved in your neighborhood? Hillsborough County can help.
Hillsborough County’s Office of Neighborhood Relations is gearing up for the 7th Annual Hillsborough County Neighborhood Conference.
The one-day conference is scheduled for March 27, 2010, from 8am to 2:30, and features a variety of educational workshops for homeowners and neighborhood leaders.
The goal of the conference is to teach citizens how to build a sense of community and make their neighborhoods safe, attractive and friendly. The conference is also a great
way for neighborhood leaders to network with each other and meet with local government officials and local businesses.
Local government agencies and businesses will have an opportunity to present information and answer questions you might have about the services they provide. In addition, the conference will include a luncheon where annual neighborhood recognition awards will be presented and attendees will hear from elected officials.
Specific workshops include presentations on applying for grants, Florida-friendly landscaping, abandoned homes, recycling, crime watch programs, community gardens, art, updating neighborhood websites and more.
If you want to go to this thing, it will cost you $12 if you register by Friday, March 12. It will be $15 if you wait until after Friday. You can register online, but you must get your payment in the mail.
